Toyota has officially unveiled its first electric vehicle for the Indian market — the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV. A badge-engineered sibling of the Maruti e Vitara, the new electric SUV is set to compete in the highly competitive midsize EV segment, taking on rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and VinFast VF6.
Battery, Range & Performance
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is offered with two battery options:
49kWh battery producing 144hp and 189Nm
61kWh battery producing 174hp and 189Nm
The larger battery delivers a claimed range of up to 543km on the ARAI cycle. With this launch, Toyota’s India portfolio now includes petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains.

Visually, the Ebella closely resembles the Maruti e Vitara, with subtle Toyota-specific design cues. Key highlights include:
