Yamaha EC-06 Launched in India at ₹1.68 Lakh, Offers 169km Range

Yamaha EC-06 launched at Rs 1.68 lakh

Key Highlights:

Priced ₹22,000 higher than the River Indie

Claimed IDC range of 169km

Top speed of 79kmph

Battery, Motor & Performance

The Yamaha EC-06 is built on the same platform as the River Indie and uses an identical 4kWh battery pack paired with a motor producing 6.7kW (9.1hp) of peak power. It offers a claimed top speed of 79kmph, which is 11kmph lower than the Indie.

Yamaha claims a 0–80% charging time of 8 hours using the standard 480W charger. Unlike the Indie, the EC-06 does not get an optional faster 750W charger.

Range & Efficiency

The EC-06 delivers a claimed IDC-certified range of 169km, which is 6km more than the River Indie.

Features & Technology

The scooter comes equipped with:

Colour LCD display

Three riding modes

Reverse assist

Conventional headlamp and tail-lamp setup

Notably, the instrument cluster layout is similar to the earlier River Indie, and not the updated Gen 2.5 version.

Storage & Practicality

While the River Indie is known for its massive storage — including a 43-litre underseat boot and 12 litres in the front apron — the EC-06 opts for a sleeker design. It offers:

24.5-litre underseat storage

Open cubby in the front apron

Thanks to the slimmer panels and reduced storage, the EC-06 weighs 3kg less than the Indie, with a kerb weight of 132kg.

Design

The Yamaha EC-06 features a sharper and sleeker design compared to the Indie’s boxier, utilitarian look. Its lighting elements are also more conventional in appearance.

Price & Availability

Price: ₹1.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra)

On-road price: Approx. ₹1.85 lakh

Availability: Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu

At launch, the EC-06 is priced ₹22,000 higher than the River Indie on which it is based.
