Luxury MPV to return on March 3; previously sold in India between 2019 and 2022.
Mercedes-Benz has announced the return of the V-Class to India, with its launch scheduled for March 3, 2026. With luxury MPVs gaining popularity among Indian buyers, the brand has decided to reintroduce the V-Class after discontinuing it in 2022, expanding its top-end vehicle lineup in the country.
 Key Highlights
Offered globally in multiple wheelbase and seating configurations
Expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine
Will rival the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM

What to Expect from the Mercedes-Benz V-Class
The current-generation V-Class was revealed globally in 2023 and is essentially a facelift of the version previously sold in India. It features a slab-sided MPV design and is offered internationally in two wheelbase options:
Long: 3,200mm
Extra Long: 3,430mm
Seating layouts include 8-seat, 7-seat and 6-seat configurations, with the top-spec variant offering captain seats in the second and third rows. Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed which wheelbase and seating layout will be offered in India.
 Design & Interior

Design highlights include a swooping bonnet, large U-shaped grille, rising shoulder line and a tall, vertical rear end with a large glasshouse. Wheel and bumper designs vary based on trim levels such as Premium, Exclusive and AMG Line.
Inside, the V-Class features twin 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation. While it uses Mercedes’ older-generation interior layout, it retains physical buttons and rotary controls on the centre console for ease of use.
 Rear Seat Experience

The highlight of the V-Class is its rear cabin comfort. In the top-spec 6-seat configuration, it offers:
Individual captain chairs
Massage, ventilation and heating functions
Reclining seats with footrests
Ambient lighting, USB ports and cup holders
Integrated storage compartments
 Powertrain Details

In international markets like the UK, the V-Class is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, available in two tunes:
220d: 163hp / 380Nm
300d: 237hp / 500Nm
The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options available. India-spec powertrain details are yet to be confirmed. An all-electric version, the EQV, is available abroad but has not been announced for India.
 Market Positioning & Expected Price
Luxury MPVs are gaining strong traction in India. Toyota sold over 1,100 units of the Vellfire in FY2025, highlighting growing demand in this segment. While the previous V-Class only rivalled the Vellfire, it will now also compete with the Lexus LM and MG M9.
Notably, the V-Class is expected to be the only diesel-powered luxury MPV in this segment. Pricing is likely to be around ₹1 crore (ex-showroom), depending on the variant introduced.
