Ferrari has unveiled the interior of its first-ever electric vehicle, named Luce (pronounced Lu-chey, meaning “light” in Italian). Designed in collaboration with LoveFrom, the design studio founded by Marc Newson and former Apple design chief Sir Jony Ive, the Luce blends Ferrari’s heritage with a bold, tactile future.
Originally known internally as Elettrica, the Ferrari Luce will make its full global debut in May 2026.

A Return to Physical Controls
In a surprising and refreshing move, Ferrari has stepped away from all-touch interfaces. The Luce features physical buttons, knobs, and dials for all key functions — a deliberate design choice aimed at improving driver engagement.
Jony Ive explains:
“This idea that because the power source is electric the interface should be digital is nonsense. We wanted something physical and engaging.”
The cabin uses anodised aluminium and strengthened Corning glass, materials long associated with Apple products, giving the interior a premium yet purposeful feel. Ferrari design chief Flavio Manzoni calls the cabin “unique” and “disruptive.”
Steering Wheel & Controls Inspired by Ferrari’s Past
The three-spoke steering wheel draws inspiration from Ferrari models of the 1950s and 1960s, featuring a thin wooden-style rim. It integrates:
Physical buttons for indicators, wipers, cruise control, and road settings
The iconic red Manettino switch
A rotary dial for powertrain modes: Range, Tour, and Performance
Smart Screens, Sensibly Sized
Ferrari avoids oversized dashboards and instead opts for:
A 10-inch movable touchscreen with a grab handle that doubles as a palm rest
Physical toggle switches for climate and media
A central clock with analogue hands that can switch between time, compass, or lap timer — developed with individual gears for each hand
OLED Instrument Cluster with an Analogue Feel
The 12.5-inch instrument display looks like three traditional dials but is actually a layered OLED system. It consists of:
Two bespoke Samsung OLED screens
A central speed display with a physical needle
Customisable side dials depending on driving mode
A surrounding display for warnings, navigation, and shift lights
Centre Console with a Unique Key Experience
The floating centre console combines leather and glass and houses:
A compact glass drive selector
A dedicated key slot — when inserted, the key changes from yellow to black, transferring its colour to the drive selector
Ferrari says perfecting this interaction alone took nearly a year

Aviation-Inspired Launch Control
Launch control is activated by pulling a ceiling-mounted grip, inspired by helicopter controls. Nearby switches manage exterior lighting.
Additional practicality includes:
Two cup holders and storage cubbies
Physical switches for windows, boot release, and central locking
A rear touchscreen for passengers showing speed, lap times, telemetry, and more
Heritage Without Nostalgia
While the Luce’s interior nods to Ferrari’s iconic past, Ive insists it is not nostalgic:
“We wanted to create something with gravitas and weight for the future.”
